India’s agenda of fighting terrorism has taken a new dimension this time. Raising concern over a terror plot in Britain which opened out the involvement of three Indians, PM Manmohan Singh claimed that India and its neighbouring state Pakistan jointly face a sticky situation.
This could indicate that the alleged enemy nations will join hands in a common cause of fighting terrorism. As Manmohan Singh has stated in an interview on Thursday,

“As a nation, we stand with those who wish to wipe out terrorism. We (India and Pakistan) have declared terrorism to be a common enemy. The thinking population of Pakistan realises that fundamentalism is perverse and that it constitutes a danger to civilisation.”
It will also prove to be a strong message and help wipe off any prejudices that can now hold the west against these nations.
However this avowal does not elicit any response from the PM as to when he will accept Pakistan’s invitation to visit the country. For him it has to be at an appropriate time; whatever that could mean. Referring to the round table conferences, he adds that this is the first time that India has had sustained dialogues with Pakistan which seem to promise a solution to all aspects.
And what about the foreign policy? Manmohan Singh asserts that the policy will help take the dialogue further. As he says,
“We need to break the nuclear apartheid while preserving our nuclear development programme.”
Now Mr. Prime Minister, can we see some action?
